What does this line mean Bruce Springsteen?
This has seriously confused me for years. You know that line of Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen: "wrap your legs round these velvet rims and strap your hands on my engine?" What does this mean? I do not see how it may be literal, because of how the bikes are built (to my knowledge). But what may / engines and tires mean figuratively? Please help!
First, contrary to what the previous poster stated, Bruce Springsteen is among the greatest songwriters American who ever lived. Let's face it his career sustainable and record / cd / video sales are An obvious indicator of this. Regarding your question, although a classic that Springsteen song was written early in his career and is the lyrics are very abstract and somewhat experimental. I can only imagine they have a sexual connotation to them and can use their imagination to conclude what they mean. I would not take the words too literally. By the way I always thought he was referring to a car is not a motorcycle, being that the song made several references to automobiles to know "Managers skeleton burned Chevrolet. I hope this helps you.
